The InterContinental Times Square to Open July 12 at $224 a Night

Ladies and Gentlemen, we now have a grand opening date for the InterContinental New York Times Square--JULY 12.

According to this press release, the hotel is offering a special grand opening rate of 25 percent off stays from July 12-September 8. When we hit up the website, we were stoked to see this actual opening offer on the landing page (most times, press releases and special offers don't match up). Then we were able to find a rate of $224.25 for July 12 for a king bed superior room, measuring 350-sq.ft. (smallish) but with a walk-in rain shower, a touchscreen PC and one of those behemoth 42-inch HDTVs.

The price is pretty good for a brand-new luxury Times Square hotel in midtown. We've got no complaints, especially not after seeing mid-level hotels try to squeeze guests for $300+ a night last month. However, the deal is only good if you can book before June 14. So start planning your NYC trip now!

Also, while we now have an opening date for the hotel, we still need a nickname. IC Times Square works but it's a little cold and distant. The always popular "Interconti" might work, but we're not in love with that either. So we'll be taking your nickname suggestions and by July 12, we shall be able to rechristen the hotel in our very own special way.
