O.M.G. Just 20 more sleeps before Sex and the City 2 comes out! As the poor people who live in Greenwich Village near the Magnolia Bakery know, each new batch of anything SATC-related sends more busloads of over-excited 20-somethings dreaming of Manolos to their doorsteps. But this time, with the movie set in Abu Dhabi, perhaps New Yorkers will get a break. With any luck, all those Carrie Bradshaw acolytes will head over to Morocco—where SATC 2 was actually shot—and line up for some cous cous instead.

So, La Mamounia, brace yourself. The Sex and the City fans are coming!

The fancy schmancy hotel has a long history with the rich and famous, but no moment could be as big as the few weeks when Sarah Jessica Parker stayed here while filming SATC 2.

La Mamounia had just undergone extensive renovations (marked by a star-studded party), when SJP checked in. And this—or a room much like it—is where she slept, in one of the hotel's three private riads.

The riads are set in the middle of lush gardens, have three bedrooms, a dining room, private terrace, and swimming pool. For one night—May 27th, when SATC 2 comes out, for example—the rate for one of these babies is USD$8,272.

Or, in math true SATC-heads will understand, the cost of 3,008 cupcakes at Magnolia.

Marrakech riad Dar Zaman

Dar Zaman riad in Marrakech is a slightly less expensive alternative to La Mamounia, still with excellent service and a lovely fun, friendly team to look after you!
