Part of the holdup has been complaints that Addison Park on Clark wouldn't mesh well with the 'hood. To accommodate the community's concerns, the hotel was scaled down from 22 stories to eight, underground parking was added and the upper floors of the hotel will be set back from the rest of the building. Retail space will be available on the bottom two floors.
And while current tenants will have the option to return after the project is complete, locals are worried that costs and shutdown during construction will force out beloved comedy institution iO Theater, whose alumni include Mike Meyers and Amy Poehler.
The Wrigleyville property will fill a big hole on Chicago's North Side, since the area only has a couple of budget hotels but no boutique option. And none of the other hotels are as close to the El or Wrigley Field.
