· If You Crave Candy
Head to Spreckels Sweets & Treats, a sugar shop that specializes in everything chocolate, from gourmet truffles to fresh fudge to frog-shaped treats. One of the most popular confections is the cavity-inducing chocolate-covered Gummi bears. be sure to try the addictive melt-in-your-mouth almond caramels from Nunes Farms. You chocolate purists don't have to worry; there are also chocolate almond caramels as well.
· If You Crave Ice Cream
You scream, I scream, we'll both scream at MooTime Hotel Del. This is an outpost of the original creamery, which is down the road. The home base supplies housemade ice cream, sorbet and yogurt to the hotel's small shop. Get a freshly made waffle cone stuffed with Island Crunch—chocolate ice cream, coconut ice cream and macadamia nuts. Or go for the ice cream sandwiches; the creamery bakes its own cookies to hold the ice cream.
· If You Crave Cake
If you hit the Del with a loved one, go to Sheerwater's terrace and order the restaurant's signature dessert, red velvet cake. We say it's perfect for you and your sweetie because the Southern cake is served in a portion meant for two. But if you happen to be dining with pals, it could feed a group. Though we wouldn't blame you if you wanted to keep the whole thing for yourself.
