Interior designer Colum McCartan has done an impressive job of creating distinctive spaces throughout the hotel. It's stylish and Kimpton-like, but with splashes of whimsy, like the painting that's peeking out from big theatrical drapes behind the front desk. And the lobby's ceiling art.
As a hotel designed to host lots of live events, there's lots of meeting space, including a couple of gorgeous suites with massive terraces on the fifth floor, which you can get a peek of in the photo above.
Even the regular rooms are a good size for New York, and they're opened up more with the help of the floor-to-ceiling windows (Unfortunately, we aren't allowed to publish photos of the rooms just yet.) The mix of rooms includes 53 suites, and also a number of "tall rooms" that feature California King beds. (Perfect for basketball players, who have apparently already expressed interest in Eventi for this very reason.)
All 282 rooms—along with the fitness center, meeting rooms, and spa—will open this Friday. There will be a temporary restaurant (also serving 24-hour room service) until the hotel's signature Basque resto opens in October. A whiskey bar and the hotel's public plaza with big screen also open in October, and the Food Parc comes a bit sooner, in September.
We'll have more deets and photos for you later this week. In the meantime, if you're already sold, you can still book a room for opening night on May 14, starting at $279.20 for a City view King.
