The Waikiki Edition is getting closer and closer to opening as it's hosting a "Casting Party" tonight for prospective employees (Uh-oh, should W Talent Shows be worried?)

We scoped out the hotel's employment recruitment page on Facebook for any recent news on the hotel and the casting party is about the only thing we can see going on right now. No sneak peeks at the interiors and definitely no firm opening date.

However, a recent Honolulu Advertiser article says that the Edition will now open in August or September in the former Yacht Harbor Tower, which used to be a part of the Ilikai Hotel located next door. And as for all the unanswered questions about what this hotel will look like and when it will open? Well, that's apparently the intent.

Michael Rock, who is in charge of the publicity strategy for the hotel told the paper:

"It's like a bottle of champagne," he said. "You would not pop the cork too soon or you'll lose the fizz."

Hee hee. (Now, in a more serious voice...) We have to agree with Rock that certain elements need to be kept under wraps but at the same time, hotels often use the secrecy excuse to cover up a mess of problems behind the scenes. We sincerely hope this is not the case for the Waikiki Edition.

Meanwhile, if you're still interested in applying to work at the Waikiki Edition, there are plenty of jobs open, including a concierge position, at Greatjobs.marriott.com.

Funny Fact: When you load up www.EditionHotels.com, the sideways O flashes all the cities that Edition will be or wants to be located in. Waikiki is not one of them.
