LVMH to Spin Off The Ridiculuxe Cheval Blanc Hotel

If you're not down with the heavy hitters in the fashion world, you might have to get up to speed on this one.

LVMH stands for Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy but it's not just an abbreviation for what WAGS wear and guzzle on a night out on the town. The French luxury goods company has quite a few brands under the LVMH umbrella including Chopin, Fendi, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan and Sephora.

The company's chairman, Bernard Arnault (who is also France's richest man) has already dipped his toes in the hotel industry with the Cheval Blanc hotel in Courchevel 1850, France. But like all the finer things in life, he wants more.

LVMH announced today that the company will create a high-end hotel management business to be called, Cheval Blanc.

LVMH's new hotel business will operate management contracts, relying on outside investors to own the real estate of the hotels.

The company said it has signed a partnership with the Swiss- and Egyptian- listed property company Orascom Development Holding AG (ODHN.EB) for the construction of a hotel in Oman and another one in Egypt.

The two hotels are scheduled to be opened in 2012.

Expect these hotels to fall in line with the luxury services offered at the original Cheval Blanc which includes, Michelin quality meals, butlers, helicopter transportation and in-room hair services (starting at 700 Euro!) Obviously you can expect ridiculuxe room rates too. We're guessing close to $1,000.

Now, we'd never be able to afford Cheval Blanc but we do wish they would open some hotels in more accessible cities in Europe and stateside. Like Paris, maybe? That would be nice! Either way, Kanye West better start cranking on those bronze teddy bears.
