How a room at the Motel 6 in Addison looked before the makeover.
Now, not all makeovers are equal. Roll-outs of redesigned rooms can take time, especially when there's a large number of properties in a brand's portfolio but even small touches can make a difference.
Other upgrades mentioned by The Times include new rain-flow shower heads at Red Roof Inns; granite countertops and hair dryers at Super 8 Hotels; and the piped-inn citrus scent at certain Holiday Inns.
From entirely new rooms a la Motel 6 to better water pressure and sweeter smelling rooms, the budget brands stateside have really picked things up. And since most of these places already offer free WiFi, we're guessing more budget stays will be in everyone's future.
So, spill. What are your favorites? Share, share, share! And if you've got ideas for what you'd like to see budget brands introduce while they're in the revamp frame of mind, drop those in the comments below as well!
