Enjoy the new suites while you can – this will be different by May

Here’s proof that the recession is over – it's less than a year after the Langham London finished its £80mil revamp and already, like a plastic surgery addict, it’s wanting more, more more.

This time, it’s the suites that are going to go under the knife – 25 of them will be upgraded, and a second presidential suite will be created. Just in case, we suppose, the POTUS happens to request a room at the same time as, say, Sarko, which would be pretty embarrassing all round, obvs.

The Infinity Suite – currently the biggest in London – is going to be joined by the brand new Regent Suite, which will have “high ceilings and large bay windows” looking up from Portland Place to Regent’s Park (ie the big main road). The upgraded suites, meanwhile, will also be renamed.

And if you’re thinking, like perhaps a normal person would, who on earth would any hotel need a second £5000-per-night, 1785 sq ft suite whose two bedrooms each has its own private living room, you need to rethink your perception of the richies. Last year, one of our friends was trying to book said Infinity Suite for a night of passione and it was booked up solid by some CEO for the entire three week window he had to get the consummation done in.

Construction work will finish, apparently, by the end of May, and the ‘normal’ suites will be renamed after London squares and furnished with “paisley throws” (okaaaay).

If you want to check out the latest nip and tuck, suites will start from £750, excluding VAT.

Langham London photo

Maybe the hotel should scale back it's reno plans and opt for buying an ironer for the incredibly wrinkled duvet and coverlet shown in the photo.
