The Wait is Nearly Over: Edition Waikiki to Open in July

This is truly like Christmas morning for us at HotelChatter. Thanks to a very generous reader we have a ton of photos of the Edition Waikiki which is set to open in July, according to our sources--making it the very first Edition Hotel to open from hoteliers Ian Schrager and Bill Marriott.

From these photos, we can see just how huge this first Edition Hotel is going to be. Despite Schrager's involvement, this is not a boutique hotel as it will have just over 350 rooms and suites. We also can see that the hotel will have some sort of large fountain complex, a restaurant overlooking the pool area (expected to be a Morimoto resto), retail space at the bottom and a walkway that connects to the beach.

Our tipster says that rooms in the back of the hotel will have ocean views while the ones in the front will have street views. Rooms along the sides of the buildings will have views of the fountain and the pool area as well as ocean views.

Meanwhile, the recruitment for workers at this upcoming hotel is ON. We just noticed a Facebook page that popped up to hire staffers. We've been scanning the page's wall posts and interactions with fans for any clues but the only other we found of big interest is this bit about hotel having complimentary Wi-Fi access. Can you imagine that? Wouldn't that be heavenly?

Alas, there's still no Edition Waikiki website to log onto. And we're confused about the official name. We've been calling it Edition Waikiki 'cuz that seems to follow typical hotel name protocol. But the Facbook page is calling it Waikiki Edition which might make more sense as in, "Oh that's the Waikiki Edition, you should try the Los Angeles Edition."

We're keeping it as Edition Waikiki for now but the hotel's website will be the deciding factor. Until then, we'll just continue to drool at these pics!
