The latest news from the Jane Hotel isn't quite what we were waiting for—ie. the re-opening of the Jane Ballroom—but it's nothing if not in character for the funky hotel over on the west side. Like its sister properties, the Bowery and the Maritime Hotel, the Jane will now offer guests the use of bikes during their stay.
They're not just any bikes either, but black Urban beach cruisers—the kind you could feasibly be snapped riding by The Sartorialist, bringing you instant street-fashion fame. (Guest of a Guest tells us that the bikes at the Maritime are blue, and at the Bowery, they're red Schwinns—in case this becomes a deciding factor in where you park your bike for the night.)
Safety helmets are optional, and the use of the bikes is complimentary for guests. Perhaps the freedom of cycling around New York City looking cool will make up for the fact that you're sharing a bathroom back at the hotel?
Just remember to watch out for those cobblestones!
