We're so focused on hotel openings around here that news of a hotel's birthday—in this case the Hotel Palomar Atlanta Midtown turning one—doesn't get us all that worked up. But when they're going to give us stuff for free? And that stuff is a bottle of wine and a cupcake? OK, then you might get our attention.

Atlanta's first Kimpton turned a year old yesterday (Happy Belated Birthday!), and they're celebrating with their 129 and Wine Anniversary Special. Yep, that means room rates starting at $129 a night and a free bottle of wine.

The deal must be booked by June 19 but is available for stays Thursday through Sundays until September 5. (In this case, we'll waive our annoyance with people who stretch their birthday celebrations out longer than a day.) The code you need to book either online or on the phone is WINE.

We tested it out and sure enough, the package is available for next Thursday night, May 6.

As for the cupcakes—the hot new hotel trend—this one requires you to have a birthday in April. Fit that bill and you'll get a cupcake courtesy of chef Keira Moritz of the hotel's Pacci Ristorante delivered to your room.

Don't go thinking you can pretend you had an April birthday if you didn't though—the hotel is carding folks for those cupcakes. Yep—you must show photo ID at check-in to get your sweets.
