The infamous party ballroom at the Jane Hotel has been closed since last October when neighbors used social media (along with traditional complaint methods) to draw attention to the debauchery going on inside (loud music, smoking, too many taxis waiting on the street.) And while there have been reports before saying that the ballroom was ready to reopen, Gothamist says this time could be for reals.

he NY Times is reporting that after the Mayor’s Office of Special Enforcement shuttered the joint last fall, the Department of Buildings and mayoral officials have confirmed that the hotel has been granted a temporary certificate of occupancy which went into effect this week. Their place of assembly permit has also been approved.

Gothamist also said that the space may not be open to the general public and indeed, this is what HotelChatter has heard as well--the Jane Ballrooms will be an invite-only, VIP type of situation a la The Standard Hotels's Boom Boom Room.

What we aren't sure about is the ballroom's hotel guest policy--i.e. if you are a paying guest can you get into the ballroom at night? Normally, we'd say the hotel would certainly give guests priority but considering this is a micro-room hotel where room rates start at around $75 a night and guests share bathrooms down the hall, we're not so sure that will be enough to let guests hobknob with the models and trolls Olsen twins. Yet perhaps the folks who book the pricier Captain's Cabins could get some priority instead?
