Thompson Toronto Already Instilling Fear Over Who is On the VIP Rooftop List

We have no idea when Thompson Toronto will be opening. We once heard late April and now the new website says May but we still can't make a reservation online. Yet apparently, the socialites in Toronto are concerned about getting a VIP key to the hotel's rooftop pool/bar. Shinan Govani, the social columnist for Canada's National Post tweeted last week:

A new social panic: who's on the list (and who's not) to get a VIP key to the be-there rooftop pool/bar of Toronto's new Thompson Hotel.

Having an exclusive rooftop club is nothing new for the Thompson folks. Hotelier Jason Pomeranc, who was last seen waxing poetically about members-only clubs like Soho House LA (of which he is a founding member), created a special VIP key for the rooftop scene, A60, at 60 Thompson in New York as well as for ABH at Thompson Beverly Hills. But we're guessing Canada's excellent "healthcare for all" policy had no influence on Pomeranc and co. here.

As for the hotel's opening, we'll be keeping close tabs as usual. Typically, Thompson likes to open their space for a private event featuring gossip column-worthy appearances of both a fashion designer and a pop star, before opening to the general public. Any tips on when this place will open? Let us know.
