PIckled blueberries. That's the red-purpley stuff smushed into our sub sandwich above, which we devoured yesterday at Ace Hotel New York's newest addition: No. 7 Sub. Such imaginative ingredients are the star of the menu, which really only features several different sub sandwiches, all priced at $9, and prepared on bread baked at No. 7's original Brooklyn location.

These are no Subway $5-Foot-Longs; they're smaller than you'd expect, but they pack a welcome punch. The men who make them behind the counter are dressed like chefs, not cafeteria workers, and yet the hipster-friendly atmosphere in the tiny space brings The Ace's laidbackness (not a real word, we know) around the corner. Because yes, this shop is technically around the corner from the entrance of the hotel and not accessible from the popular lobby. Still, try the "yuzuade" too.

The menu and more photos, after the jump!

Of course we can't leave you without drooling over the menu. We'll be back if only to sink our teeth into an eggplant parm sub, but you can find out more about them yourself here.
