Now that a bunch of Londoners are ruling the roost at the Hotels Formerly Known as the Ws of East 39th Street—that would be the St. Giles, The Court and St. Giles, The Tuscany—there are new rates to go with the new name. And if you were a fan of these quiet East Side W's then you'll be pleased to know that they're not too different from the old rates—in the $275–$300 a night range.

Both hotels got their new St. Giles identities last Wednesday, and since it sounds like the new owners weren't going to change much, there was no need to close the properties and spiff them up. They look pretty much like the old Ws, only without the words "Whatever Whenever" all around the place.

Now, about those rates. We checked the St. Giles online rezzie system and found a variety of rooms available (take note, Ash strandees), starting with Superior Kings, which are $287.10 a night at The Court, and $305.10 a night at The Tuscany.

What's the difference, you ask? We had some trouble figuring this out when they were still W Hotels—there wasn't always an obvious reason for one to be pricier than the other—but as far as we can tell it's all about size. The Tuscany rooms have a good 25 square foot over those at The Court (375 square foot to 350). And in Manhattan, size counts.

The good news is, both hotels have cheaper Sunday-night stays. At The Court, a Superior King is $239 a night on a Sunday, and at The Tuscany it's $233.10. (Yeah, so there goes our square-footage theory. It's cheaper in the bigger room on Sundays...)

These are all pre-paid, non-refundable rates. The regular Best Available Rate seems to hover around the $359 a night mark.
