Now we have some fresh deets on the Eventi Hotel, we thought we'd check in on yet another of the many new hotels opening in NYC this year—The Nolitan. When we had a poke around the construction site back in February, the boutique hotel was on track for a May opening. Now? It looks more like "mid to late June," says the hotel's PR rep.

The precise date should firm up in the coming weeks, and the hotel's website should open for online booking by the end of April. No word yet on opening rates, but expect rooms to go for around $300 a night.

As well as all the work going on in the physical sense at the hotel, management is working on building relationships with local retail stores and restaurants in Nolita so they can offer their guests discounts and special services.

Speaking of neighborhood names like "Nolita" (or "North of Little Italy"), we were tickled by this New York magazine article on the "NoMad" district, which is anchored by the Ace Hotel. While it was all about how no one uses the "NoMad" moniker, and how the Ace created its own neighborhood within its own four walls, we also found this description of Eventi amusing:

The promotional material for the new Eventi hotel and rental complex, which will take up a whole block of Sixth Avenue between 29th and 30th, currently places it in Chelsea, though “Penn Station Heights” might be more accurate.

Kind of makes you realize why real-estate developers go to the trouble of making up names like "NoMad."

Will The Nolitan bring more people down to the gritty-cool blocks of Kenmare and Elizabeth like the Ace did further uptown? We'll have to wait until "mid to late June" to find out!
