OK, so we can scratch at least one hotel as a contender for the biggest Tribeca Film Festival parties—the W New York Downtown won't hit that May 4 opening target, after all—and is now shooting for June 6. (So, World Cup parties then?)
We can't say we're surprised. We've been tracking this baby for at least three years now, and almost every post we've done contains the word "delay".
Perhaps with the Hotels Formerly Known as Ws, The Court and The Tuscany, now out of the portfolio, the Starwood genies will be able to focus all their energies on the W New York Downtown and get it open once and for all.
We're dying to see how it goes head to head with fellow downtown glass tower, the new Trump SoHo, and are also pretty keen to get our mouth around one of those BLT Burgers.
Thanks to Eater, which recently had photos of the W's BLT Bar & Grill signage, we can rest assured that the restaurant will go ahead as planned—despite the break-up between chef Laurent Tourondel and business partner Jimmy Haber.
We just hope this is the last of the delays. Really.
