So far, we’ve brought you coverage of the entire construction and opening process of the new J.W. Marriott at L.A. Live, and last week, we decided to head into the hotel’s main restaurant, L.A. Market, for dinner to see what it's all about. The restaurant is the latest kitchen run by celebrity chef, Kerry Simon.

We tried a variety of dishes including the wok-charred edamame with house-made ginger sea salt ($9), the bricked chicken with farro and braised beet greens ($24), and the ricotta-herb ravioli with wild mushrooms ($21).

The standouts, however, were the Tuna Dynamite with lump crab, tuna, sushi rice, red chili aioli, yuzu, and eel reduction ($14), and the innovative Sushi Pizza with ahi tuna, crab, avocado, celery leaf, julienne cucumber and mascarpone cheese with wasabi, all on a crust with rice baked in for extra crunch ($14).

We also might or might not have noshed on desserts like Simon’s signature “Junk Food Platter” ($18), and “brown bag apple pie” with shortbread crust and buttermilk ice cream ($9).

Our other favorite feature was the groovy water glasses made from recycled wine bottles, with divots on the bottom and everything.

L.A. Market serves breakfast from 6:30 am – 10:00 am, lunch from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, and dinner from 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm daily.

Rates at the J.W. Marriott start at $269 this month.
