With the opening just two weeks away on March 25, we can now report that the W Vieques Island Retreat and Spa has opening packages starting at $359 a night. Considering our disappointment that regular rates were $339 last time we checked, we're happy that the hotel—the first W retreat and spa in North America—has decided to give us a little more bang for our buck.

Not surprisingly for a property that calls its restaurant miX on the Beach and its rooms 'sand-sational', the opening package has a snazzy name too—it's the Surrender to Your Senses package. Here's what you get in return:

- An upgrade to a Mega Room with a private balcony (hellooo, hanging chair!), as well as direct access to the poolside WET area
- Two welcome cocktails in the private W Lounge inside the Vieques Airport
- Daily breakfast at miX on the Beach, which has Alain Ducasse calling the shots
- A Sunset Champagne Ritual for two—at your choice of special spots at the resort such as the Fire Pit
- A Baba au Rhum dessert by Alain Ducasse (and yes, our spell check is switched on, in case you were wondering)
- An exclusive Jane Marvel for W 'Sunshine' Beach Bag

You can Surrender to Your Senses from March 25 through December 22, although there is a two-night minimum. We were told we could book online or over the phone using the promo code W OPEN, although the online rezzie system wasn't recognizing that code when we tried it last night.

However, if you click over to the W Vieques' website, you'll see a link for booking an Insider Preview rate. We found one of those on opening night for $289 a night. We'll bug one of the W cast members swinging in one of those hanging patio chairs to find out what's going on with the opening rate and report back pronto.

Or as fast as "island time" allows ...
