A Robber Makes Off With His Own Oscar Swag in Beverly Hills

We thought security was supposed to be heightened around Los Angeles hotels during Oscar season but with the likes of Katie Price running in and out of the Chateau Marmont and this new report of a burglary at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills, things must have been a little off.

According to Page Six, Pepe Fanjul, the Cuban-born sugar baron who is one of the world's richest men was staying at the hotel in a suite with his wife. But on Friday night, a robber posing as a hotel worker entered their suite and stole the wife's bank account precious jewelry.

"They were riding up in the elevator when a man in a blue uniform with 'hotel' written on his shirt started to talk Spanish to Pepe. They both got off on the same floor, and Pepe and his wife went into their suite. They then heard a knock on the door. It was the man in the elevator, who said, 'I am here to fix your air conditioner.' They let him in, and he took valuables including Emilia's jewels -- thought to be worth millions -- and fled."

The couple said they filed a police report and the hotel thinks they could identify the perp from the security camera but we're having a hard time figuring out if it was this hotel or the Beverly Wilshire which is a Four Seasons that is properly located in Beverly Hills. (The one shown above is on the border.) The LAPD doesn't have a report but maybe the BHPD does.

Nevertheless, let this be a lesson for all hotel guests--if you must travel with your life savings expensive jewelry, try to take only the absolutely necessary baubles and if possible, never remove them from your person.

Re: Which Four Seasons

It's the one you pictured (even though I agree, that's not really beverly hills). The other Four Seasons is always referred to as the Beverly Wilshire.
