The envelope, please! As we prepare for the Oscars this Sunday, another race is underway in hotel land. That for the coveted spot as the chosen bath amenity brand for the new InterContinental New York Times Square. Earlier this week, we noticed that the hotel had turned to the public to help decide the winner—via a poll on its Facebook page.

This was their shortlist:

What type of bathroom amenities do you prefer?

option 1:GILCHRIST & SOAMES
option 2:Molton Brown
option 3:Aroma Therapy
option 4:Essentiel Elements

Out of the four, we're partial to Molton Brown but we have heard good things about Essentiel Elements as well. What's your vote?

Interestingly, when we checked back in to see how the poll was going today, it was no longer showing up on the InterCon's Facebook page. Could this mean they settled on one already? Did you get a chance to have your say? If not, go ahead and let us know which bath amenity you'd choose in the comments below.

We're not sure if the Facebook poll will be the final say on which brand the InterCon goes with, but we like the idea of a hotel getting the public involved before it opens its doors. It's like playing a game of Imaginary Hotelier!

The InterContinental New York Times Square opens on July 1, with rooms starting at $287 a night.

nickname?

can we come up with a nickname for the intercontinental times square? it's getting be a mouthful. and ITS sounds either like a tech company or a form of birth control.

interconTS maybe could work.

Ps. i vote for molton brown!

molton brown

HATE places that have gilchrist and soame. for me, gilchrist and soame is being cheapskate while pretending to be posh.

i'm a l'occitane girl through and through, though I also love the red flower stuff that andaz weho used to have (chambers NYC has it too)

ITS step it up

The choices are pretty lame to be quiet honest.  Molton Brown is by far the best of the choices.  If ITS really wanted to bring out the big guns, they'd look at Frederick Fekkai or Bulgari.  I've added the toileries amnenties to my long list of criteria when am picking a nice hotel to stay in.

Intercontinental toiletries

I must confess to being rather partial to Essentiel Elements, they have a wonderful Rosemary Fragrance that really wakes you up in the morning.

I have also used the Aromatherapy brand at The Viceroy Palm Springs and think this would be a great fit for Intercontinental Times Square.
Particulary as they will have a lot of European Guests and we do like the anti-jet lag benefits.

Gilchrist & Soames

If it is the same Gilchrist & Soames used at the Intercontinental Hotel - The Clement on the Monterey Peninsula, then they should definitely choose that.  I brought some home from my last girl's trip and it smells wonderful!  I vote Gilchrist & Soames!

Nice choices

Nice choices of products.  I like Gilchrist & Soames, the aromas are not offensive or overpowering.  I have used Aromatherapy Associates in a Spa and they are also a nice choice.

Gilchrist & Soames

I'm always happy to see Gilchrist & Soames when I stay somewhere nice.  Although, I have experienced Aromatherapy Associates as well and like them.

Gilchrist & Soames

Molton Brown looks so old fashioned now and the fragrances are too invasive.  I like Essential Elements but Gilchrist and Somes for me everytime - their fragrances are refreshing but never over-power the perfume you're going to wear.

Toughy!

A couple of months ago I would have said Molton Brown, but to be honest it's a bit boring now isn't it?

I recently stayed at a hotel in London at short notice so didn't bring my toiletries with me so decided to chance it and use the ones in the hotel. They looked pretty funky in a paper style bottle and I was AMAZED!  It smelt gorgeous, my hair was lovely after using it and the body lotion was absorbed straight away.

I took one of the empty packets away to google when I got home and found out it was by Gilchrist & Soames, so I ordered some too (which I never do) and I'm still loving it.  The collection is called BeeKind.

Seriously - if you haven't tried it yet, I would really recommend it!

3

I would vote for option 3:Aroma Therapy though I always bring my "stuff" with me :)
Best, Lynn from wedge boots

More "Green" Choices!

In an era of being more environmentally conscience, it's a bit of a dissapointment that the ITS will not have a more "green" product, like the Koha Spa or Natural Earth lines from Health Pak.
