Upstairs at the Kimberly Hotel Will Open By Early May

Yes, we’re talking rooftops again. We can’t help it. We’re desperate for this sunshine that’s apparently headed to New York City. And the spring. And while it’s not open yet, we’re hopeful that Upstairs at the Kimberly Hotel will become a go-to spot for outdoor drinkies—as soon as it opens in late April or early May.

This is the ETA we received from the hotel’s reps this week, and since this is Hotel Land, let’s call it early May and then be happily surprised if it opens earlier, yes?

This is the hallway that leads to the Upstairs space—very Deco pretty—and you can see more of that Moooi furniture in this shot above—yes, those are the same chairs as the ones at the Mondrian South Beach. As for the lights, they come with a hotel-design pedigree, too. The lighting designer for Upstairs, Brian Orter, also worked on the Ace Hotel, the W South Beach, and the Gramercy Park Hotel.

Other personnel news we like? Executive Chef Gwenaël Le Pape has worked with both Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Anthony Bourdain, and is planning a menu that includes Spiced Duck Cigars, Baby Lamb Lollipops with Ratatouille, and Fig and Gorgonzola Pizza.

Hmmm, bring on the overpriced cocktails!
