Fashion 26 Wants Fashionable Guests, Thanks. (And is Now Opening April 7)

Ooh, look, the scaffolding has come down! NYC's newest hotel, Fashion 26 was understandably excited about this momentous occasion, which happened over the weekend in Chelsea. The opening on April 5 was almost here! And then ... And then came the rain.

Torrential rain in New York on Monday and Tuesday forced construction workers at the Fashion 26 site to switch gears from "finishing touches" to "flood-watch." We're glad to hear that the damage was minor, and the hotel's opening has only been delayed two days—to April 7.

Which gives you more time to get your wardrobe up to snuff.

Oh yes, this isn't a fashion hotel in name alone. Oh no! Once it's open (and dry), Fashion 26 will launch a Best Dressed Guest program, which will single out "one trendy hotel guest each day" and grant them an upgrade, their choice of fashion magazine, and the chance to have their photo and bio posted on the hotel's new blog, bestdressedguest.com. (At the moment the URL will take you to the main Fashion 26 site; it should be up next week.)

The hotel's "style seeker" and front-office director Zoraida D'Alessandro told Crain's that she's looking ...

"... to celebrate how someone stands out and how they attract attention. It doesn't have to be a whole outfit; it can be a funky piece of jewelry or fabulous shoes."

So, what do you think? If we rock up in our Fashion 26 concierge uniform, would we pass the test?
