The Chatwal Hopes to Lap Its Competitors With Its Indoor Lap Pool

We'd love to show you a rendering of the indoor pool at The Chatwal but this hotel has everything on lock down.

We're still waiting on an opening date for The Chatwal, the luxury hotel that plans to take New York by storm, but we do have a scoop on how they might be do this storm-taking: With a lap pool.

When we toured the construction site back in January, we heard rumblings that the spa space might include something "special" and "rare", and now we hear that groundbreaking on the pool is well underway.

The spa may or may not be affiliated with the ayurvedic Chopra Center & Spa—apparently partnerships with spa vendors are still being hammered out—but at any rate, we expect this pool scene to be on the quieter side, more like the Greenwich Hotel's indoor pool.

The Chatwal is, after all, the kind of place that hopes to lure heads of state and people wealthy enough to travel with an entourage and require paparazzi-deflecting planters on their suite patios.

Whether or not the hotel will meets its spring opening ETA or not remains to be seen. Anyone know how long it takes to fill a lap pool with water? In the meantime, the hotel continues to promote its Facebook page which has some interesting history of the building, but still not enough photos or renderings to make us happy.
