This last weekend, when the 29-degree weather swept into New York City like some unexpected, unwelcome party guest, we still made our way into the wind tunnel that is the Meatpacking District for W Magazine's "W Shops" event at The Standard Hotel. The W Shops event, which is sadly only a one-day thing that we told you about here, involves special discounts and gifts at shops in the neighborhood, all anchored by the W Magazine lounge at The Standard. And when someone says "hotel" and "shopping," you know where we'll be.
The lounge was actually in one of the few parts of the hotel where we've never been—their first-floor event rooms. It's around back of the Biergarten, which afforded us some nice peeking at the Biergarten before summer gets into full swing and you can't see the anything through the crowd of eager drinkers.

Even if you weren't staying at The Standard, you could come over to the lounge to pick up a copy of W, get a glimpse of the new Kate Moss for Longchamp collection, the Tacori 18k925 jewelry line, and Shiseido makeup before perhaps catching a talk with designer Catherine Malandrino over at her Meatpacking store.
