We ordered a $14 strawberry and ginger margarita that came in a generous glass and tasted more strawberry than ginger. Since it was a "school night" we couldn't order up the martini popsicles but we're definitely curious to try them our next time around. We also indulged in the $19 mini grilled truffle scented cheese sandwiches with french fries which hit the spot. This almost made us forget about the bad service, until we had to actually walk up to the bar and ask for our check. Of note: there were four other people in the bar at this time.
Overall, it's not a bad bar scene especially if you're into a quiet and private sort of scene. The bar overlooks the hotel's beautiful grounds and you can get even get a glimpse of the famous poolside (only hotel guests can enter the pool area.) And fortunately, the bar's interiors are way more modern than the rest of the hotel, which we fear may need some upkeeping.
Bar Nineteen12 is open daily from 5pm to 2am. You can check out the full menu here before you go. Our only suggestion is that you try and get a seat where the server absolutely cannot miss you. That and park on the street or self-park at the hotel to avoid valet service.
[Update 3.24.10: Bar Nineteen12's manager has reached out to HotelChatter apologizing for the terrible service that night. "We are extremely committed to offering exceptional experiences to all our guests and I hope your future visit with us will be one to remember (for all the good reasons this time)." We're definitely willing to give the bar another try. Like we said, those martini popsicles on the menu looked intriguing. ]
