Who needs a suite when the normal rooms have levitating beds?

Messieurs, vous must be bloody kidding us. As recently as February, the folks behind the forthcoming Hotel Le Seven in Paris were saying that the place was on course for a March opening. Now its website is saying June (though it’s going to be a “grand opening”, in case that makes up for it). But – here’s the thing – the hotel’s Facebook page just gave fans the news that “there’s a possibility that we open in 45 days”. Which would make it the end of April. Would that be a soft opening, with the grand opening in June?

The website is not taking any chances on that one – it’s only taking rezzies from 1 June. The good news is that you can get up to 30 percent off normal rates if you book three nights before launch. Or, you can book a single night for 20 percent off.

Unfortunately, even with these discounts, it’s still showing as more expensive than we first expected. Instead of the €197 starting rate we were quoted last month, rooms are now showing as €297 rack rate, and €238 with the 20% discount. The suites start at €737 rack rate, €590 with the discount.

We won’t be booking just yet, though. Don’t want to jinx it, and we’ll be holding out for the April news. If you know what’s going on, drop it in comments below!

Opening or not opening in April?

Hi juliab,
I guess the little comment on our Facebook page threw a bit of confusion.

OK here's the straight story... Originally scheduled to open early April we knew from experience that it's just not going happen. When in the world have such projects ever run on schedule?

So we played it safe and opened the bookings for 1st June. We're still playing it safe with that date.

Architects and engineers tell us we're going to be open April, I think we'll be able to have a "soft opening" end of April. And the real launch early June.

It's a pity we aren't open earlier - we would love to have invited Mr. Depp to the hotel in our Alice in Wonderland suite when he comes to Paris for the premiere.

But hey we can't cut edges on a project like this. We look forward to seeing you!
