After Saturday's 8.8-magnitude earthquake in Chile, which has caused 708 deaths, according to the Associated Press, Starwood Hotels announced that no guests or employees have been injured as a result.

Starwood's Chilean properties include the Sheraton Santiago Hotel and Convention Center, the San Cristobal Tower, Four Points by Sheraton Santiago, the W Santiago, the Sheraton Miramar Hotel and Convention Center, and the Four Points by Sheraton Los Angeles. All of the hotels continue to be open and are tending to their guests.

However, the Santiago International Airport is closed. The airport was able to accept several flights on Sunday, though no outgoing flights are permitted, AP reported.

Starwood is waiving all cancellation and rebooking fees for those travelers who were to arrive at one of its hotels February 27 through March 7. If you were due to stay at a Starwood property during that time, contact the individual hotel and it'll work with you to rebook your trip. However, the quake caused telephone service disruptions, so take that into account. You also can check the hotel websites to see how the weather conditions have affected it. Starwood says it will update the sites as info becomes available.
