Sports Illustrated Ladies Frolicked at the Anantara Resorts in The Maldives
Most people pick up the newest edition of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue because they want to drool over Brooklyn Decker or Bar Rafaeli in the skimpiest, totally unwearable bathing suits ever fashioned from two scraps of fabric (or seaweed or sand dollars or whatever else is lying around.)
But we scope out the SI because we want to know which hotels got lucky with the ladies as SI is always gives the accommodations for its photo shoots major shout-outs (at least on the website.)
This year, the luckiest of the bunch has to be the Anantara Resorts in The Maldives.
We've always been a big fan of here at HotelChatter (hello, overwater bungalows!) and it looks like Brooklyn, Bar and their friends, Dominique Piek and Christine Teigen are big fans now too.
The Maldives was the cover location for the 2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and more importantly for us hotel geeks, The Anantara Dhigu Resort and Spa and the Naladhu Resort in the South Male Atoll is where the girls shacked up at night.
If you're looking for the overwater bungalows or "villas" as they call them, then hit up the Dhigu resort where the rooms with a killer view below, above and beyond starts at about $1,100 a night. (Regular villas begin at $820 a night.)
If you want more spacious digs on solid ground, the Naladhu resort offers two types of accommodations--beach houses and ocean houses. These may not be as big as your house at home but they are very private and come with your own pool and hardwood decks. Oh and sexy outdoor showers too.
Room rates start at Naladhu around $1,500 a night for the beach houses. Oddly enough, it is completely sold-out from March 18 to 22nd. Perhaps next year's issue is being shot there again?
