It's been a long time since the Paramount Hotel was one of the hottest spots in NYC. Ditto its location in Times Square. But with news of a new club on the way, maybe it's time for a Paramount comeback?

We're hearing that hospitality consultant Steven Kamali, along with the peeps behind Tenjune and Abe & Arthur's are at work on a new club concept for the hotel's 10,000 square-foot restaurant space. Once upon a time this was the Diamond Horseshoe, a vaudeville-style joint that boasted Gene Kelly and Broadway types as customers. Can Kamali and co. bring a dash of New York cool back to the hotel?

Details on their plans are still under wraps. But perhaps the nightcrawlers among you have heard some of the scoop? Will the Paramount reclaim its former Schrager-era glory? Will the new club hark back to the Diamond Horseshoe days with a chorus line of 250-pound women? Let us know what you've heard in the comments below.

Actually....

The Diamond Horseshoe is in the basement of the hotel-the restaurant is on the mezzanine level. Which space are they set to develop? It'd be AMAZING if they finally got the Horseshoe space renovated. It's an incredibly cool (and huge) space.

The basement space...

... is the one we hear is getting the new club. The Diamond Horseshoe was a restaurant too, wasn't it? (There's a vintage menu on eBay!) Sorry for the confusion, we didn't mean the current restaurant.
