Word on the street is that former Olympian and hometown hero Wayne Gretzky will be making appearances at the hotel’s Opus Bar to pour some vino. We’re guessing it’ll be on behalf of his No. 99 Estates Winery.
Aside from seeing hockey great Gretzky, you can get a taste of the Games with some colorful cocktails at the bar. The winner on the menu is the Gold Medal, with Grey Goose, Navan and gold flakes. But the Silver Medal—with Hendrick’s Gin, vermouth, rose water, smoked sea salt, sliver flakes, cucumber—and the Bronze Medal—with Maker’s Mark, Calvados, vermouth and bronze powder—seem like good runners-up.
To go with your Medal cocktails, the bar is offering Olympics-inspired “O Bites.” Try noshes like the Buffalo Bobsleigh, a miso-marinated buffalo sate topped with a cashew-ancho chili sauce, or the World Record Ribeye, which has mini steak frites, sliced grilled ribeye, Pont Neuf potato, red wine jus and béarnaise.
After dinner, want to roll yourself up to a room in the hotel? Forget it. The hotel has no availability from Feb. 11 till the end of the month.
