Vintage Dom and Marshmallows Await at Claridge's This Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day for hotels usually means breaking out the cases of champagne and loading up on chocolate-covered strawberries to place throughout their guestrooms. But we're not into that. We've already told you our favorite hotels for Valentine's Day but this week, we'd like to spotlight some of the most opulent V-Day packages out there. If you're going to impress your schmoopie, why not go all out?

Old-school romantics looking for a more refined Valentine's Day should try out Claridge's in London. You won't find whipped cream bikinis or Kama Sutra kits here.

For its Vintage Love Affair package, the Mayfair hotel offers V-Day staples, like Champagne and some nibbles. Though they get Claridge's upgrade with Dom P�rignon Ros� Vintage 1988 and rose marshmallows, made specifically to complement the ros�, from delectable Paris pastry shop Ladur�e.

If you're eyeing those Dom P�rignon Champagne flutes that come with your bubbly, go ahead and take them. They are part of the deal as well. You romantics will also get an authentic English breakfast the morning after.

To have your own vintage love affair, rates start at �545, or $853, a night. The deal is good through February.

If that's a bit out of your price range, Claridge's also offers the Love Is in the Air package, where you get a bottle of Laurent-Perrier Ros�, special Valentine's amenities in your room on arrival and an English breakfast. The package starts at �350, or $548, a night and it's available through the month.

While you're at the hotel, try to attend its afternoon tea�nothing is more refined than high tea. Claridge's has been serving it for more than 100 years and supposedly pours a great cup. The Valentine's edition is available through February 14 and costs �45 per person, about $70. With it, you'll get finger sandwiches, a glass of bubbly, apple and raisin scones, assorted French pastries and heart macaroons, a sweet touch.
