The Top Five Hotels for Spotting Models During New York Fashion Week

The official start of New York's semiannual Fashion Week is tomorrow, but already the chic set has been partying up a storm in various hot hotels around town. Take a walk in some of the areas associate with Fashion Week (Meatpacking District, LES, Bryant Park) and you'll see fashionistas stepping carefully in their stilettos amid the slushy street muck, and models donning their biggest down jackets against the cold. If you'd like to see some of those models without their coats, actually modeling, then you'd be wise to check into five certain hotels where most of the fashion magic will take place over the next 8 or so days.

The Top Hotels for Model-Spotting During New York Fashion Week

· The Tribeca Grand
In the last year or so, the Tribeca Grand has become a favorite venue for hosting events like release parties and screenings. You'll also find photographers sleeping here, business meetings happening between agencies in the atrium lobby, and the huge parties at night. This Friday especially; there's to be a giant private fashion party at the hotel with some designers even doing the deejaying. You aren't invited, but you can probably crash it if you're staying at the hotel.

· Soho House
Aside from the fact that many of the international fashion world's hottest heavyweights are members of the Soho House who choose to stay here during the week, the Soho House's library will also host a designer presentation or two. For instance, British luxury label Mulberry has positioned their models around the place for the last few seasons, and for most of the presentation's attendees, that's the closest they'll get to hanging out at the private Soho House.

· The Standard
Last night, before the "blizzard" hit NYC, a huge party went down on the notorious 18th floor. It was for Full Frontal Fashion, and it brought out all sorts of folk: the blogs, the designers, the celebs, the DJs, the journalists and the models and their hangers-on. And this is only the beginning; the Standard's top floor lounge will host other parties throughout the week, and you'll be guaranteed to spot some fashion folk noshing at the Standard Grill and imbibing in the lounge off of the lobby. Proof: top model Coco Rocha just tweeted this: "Forgot to mention: I walked past Miss Jay last night in the Standard lobby, I did my best to control my 'sniffling' as I said hi."

· Bryant Park Hotel
This is the last season that Fashion Week will take place in Bryant Park, and the Bryant Park Hotel is going to enjoy it. Not only are there typically well-heeled guests hanging out around the hotel entrance smoking, but the place's penthouses are transformed into private lounges for editors, journalists and models during the week. This place is ripe for editor-spotting as well as models.

· The Ace New York
Last night, designer Donna Karan filled the place with male models and held her DKNY Menswear presentation in the dark and moody lobby of The Ace, and The Breslin restaurant then sat most of the crowd for dinner. In previous seasons, we've seen the corner suites turned into temporary showrooms, and we'd guess that many trend-focused fashion buyers are staying here this week.
