With all that talk of turkey and pumpkin pie in November, we almost forgot about oysters. Silly us. We almost forgot about the very thing we were anticipating: the opening of The John Dory Oyster Bar at The Ace Hotel NYC.

This 59th latest addition to The Ace's ground-floor playground opened not long before Thanksgiving and has been wowing foodies ever since.

Judging from the gushing going on over at Eater NY, it looks like the standout dishes are the razor clam ceviche ($11) and the oyster pan roast with crostini ($15).

These prices reflect the cost of most of the menu, although be warned that some dishes arrive in disappointingly small portions. Disappointing, because they're apparently so damn delicious.

If you've tried to snag a table at The Breslin or a spot in The Ace's lobby, you'll know that the place is almost always a zoo. We expect the same is happening at The John Dory--especially since, like The Breslin, it does not take reservations.

Except when it does--which is when you are a guest of the hotel. You can ask at the front desk at any time, but the restaurant peeps suggest you make your John Dory rezzie when you are booking your room.

At this time of year you'll want to be quick with room rezzies too: the hotel is sold out for the next couple of days, although we found availability for this weekend, with rates from $359 a night for a Cheap Full room.
