What We Have All Been Wondering About Folks Stranded in Hotels Because of the Storm

The snow storm is continuing to wreak havoc on travelers' plans and while some folks were stuck for hours on an airplane, some were stuck in an airport and others were stuck on a subway, we can't forget about those who are stuck in hotels because their flights keep getting cancelled. Why, in fact, one of our own is still stuck in Vegas!

Of course, we'd prefer to be stuck in a hotel versus a plane but there are some downsides to hotel stranding too. For starters, you're paying money to stay somewhere each night when you'd rather be at home in your own bed. You're also incurring more costs for meals and services like WiFi. And lastly, you're stuck with the same set of clothes day-in and day-out. Specifically, we're talking about your underwear supply.

@AskMrMickey, editorial director of Paper Magazine, is one such traveler who ponders what should be done about this:

Biggest problem about being stranded in ATL. No enough clean underpants! Hotel laundry or Macy's? Hmmmmm. Maybe both.

Hotel laundry is disgustingly expensive. We once paid 15 euros to wash a pair of granny panties. Honest to God truth, granny panties and all.

We're sure things stateside in Atlanta aren't that expensive but you can expect to pay between $5-$10 per item of laundry. Because of that, we think @AskMrMickey should get himself to a Gap or Macy's pronto. Or he could do a DIY job in the sink with some hotel bath gel. We don't advise this either.

BTW, we inquired of our own contributor what she was doing about laundry and so far, no answer. We fear the worst.

Got any other suggestions for guests stranded in hotels without clean underwear? Drop 'em in comments below!

sink. soap.

um, is it too obvious to say wash them yourself? you have the accoutrements, a sink and a soap.

DIY job

Yeah, we put that in there but if you plan on being stranded a few days, wouldn't you want some softer feeling underwear. air-dry leaves them crinkled and hard. alright for an extra day, not for a few extra days.

pussies

probably the wrong word to use in this context. how about softies?
i was on the road 7 weeks straight last year and i washed my knicknacks every single day. crinkled and hard only lasts till you put them on.
sissies.

Washing

Washing them in the sink only works if you have enough time in your hotel room to have them dry reasonably enough. If you're coming in at 10pm every night and leaving by 9-11am each day and moving on, it's little difficult.
