The resort sits on a private beach near the village of Manggis in East Bali with a volcano, Mount Agung serving as the resort's "dramatic backdrop." There are only 34 suites for guests here but all of them are free-standing, meaning you essentially have your own little thatched beach house for the duration of your stay.
Of course, not all suites are created equal, not even in paradise. The garden suites face the garden, the ocean suites face the ocean and the pool suites are enclosed within walls with their own private swimming pools. Three specialty suites are also available offering more room, more privacy and more amenities.
While we'd like to book an ocean suite and do absolutely completely nothing for a few days, water sports activities are available, cultural tours are offered and there's a spa to indulge in should laying on the beach not be relaxing enough.
Also, our Flickr member, Travel4Vitality, says the resort's three-tiered pool is "is one of the most photographed swimming pools of the world." That's because it looks right over the Lombok Strait.
Now what will it cost to stay here? Suites start at around $750 a night. Oh well, add it to our ever-growing Hotel Bucket List.
