Is the Snow Keeping Hotel Rates Down for New Year's Eve in NYC?

While Snurricane 2010 aka Snowmaggedon aka Snowpacolypse has wreaked havoc on travel plans across the U.S., hotel rates in New York City as we head into New Year's Eve are looking rather reasonable...for New Year's Eve in New York City that is.

Is the snow to thank/blame? We're not sure but for those of you who are able to get to NYC by NYE, you best take advantage of these deals!

Here are some of the doable rates on New Year's Eve at HotelRates.HotelChatter.com. Searching for December 31-January 2nd (because we don't expect you to shake off that hangover before checkout at 11am), we found the following (all rates listed pre-taxes):

· The Hudson Hotel: $212 a night. Great location near Central Park but these are teeny-tiny coffin-sized rooms.
· 70 Park Avenue: $316 a night. Right near Grand Central station and since it's a Kimpton, the rooms have free WiFi so long as you sign up for the InTouch program.
· Dream Hotel: $299 a night. About 10 blocks up from Times Square and who's rooftop bar was recently visited by Madonna.
· Gild Hall: $206 a night. From Thompson Hotels, it's located downtown in Wall Street, away from the Times Square madness with cozy albeit manly lobby. (Think tartan and antlers.)

If you're still stranded without a place to stay (or flying by the seat of your pants just because), check out HotelTonight's last-minute rates tonight for NYC, two of which are under $200.
