Looking for plans on Christmas Eve? Here's an excuse to spend it in Mexico: The Villa Del Palmar Cancun will open on December 24.

The hotel's offering an introductory rate of $186 per person a night, all inclusive, through January 2. The price will drop to $142 per person from January 3 to April 15. If you can wait, you can take advantage of Virgin America's new Cancun-to-SFO service on January 20 and Cancun-to-LAX route on January 19.

Each of the 150 rooms will have private terraces with ocean views, kitchenettes, sofa beds, desks, flat-screen TVs, high-speed Internet access and spa tubs. There also will be one- and two-bedroom suites with living rooms, separate bathtubs and showers, fully equipped kitchens with full-sized refrigerators/freezers, stove tops, microwaves and utensils, and washer/dryers.

If you really want to live it up on Christmas, there will be three 1,600-square-foot two-bedroom penthouses with oversized terraces with patio whirlpools, exterior living rooms under trellises and extensive areas for sunbathing.

Other amenities include two pools, one that's adults-only, and a pool butler. Four Jacuzzis, an activities center and two poolside massage huts—that's on our Christmas wishlist.
