Skating in NYC is a classic holiday experience, but Wollman Rink in Central Park and the Rockefeller Center Ice Rink can get mighty crowded. If only there was a spot downtown where you could strap on your skates and channel Johnny Weir. Oh, wait! As of tomorrow, there will be--at the W New York Downtown.

Yep, from December 18 through February 14, guests, locals and tourists can all enjoy the hotel's elevated skating rink, which has been installed where the Living Room Terrace usually is on the fifth floor. What a great way to utilize the space when it's too cold for mere sitting and sipping!

Here's what the space looked like in the summer.

Of course, winter sipping is still of the utmost importance and the W is not about to let anyone down in this department. The hotel is also introducing an ice bar, which will serve après skate cocktails both hot and cold, created especially for the winter by resident mixologist Charlotte Voisey.

The new menu includes a spin on the Hot Toddy, with Jim Bean Rye, sailor jerry spiced rum with nutmeg-infused vanilla sugar, and fresh lime juice; the Get Your Rocks Off, made with fresh grapefruit juice, chilled vodka and Pop Rocks; and a Hot Chocolate Martini with vanilla-infused vodka, tequila and hot chocolate.

You can get your skate on starting tomorrow--the rink will be open from 2–10 p.m. daily. The cost is $12 per person, which includes skate rental and a pair or W hand warmers. If you bring your own skates, you can hit the ice for free.
