Late in the summer, VegasChatter learned that the Wynn Las Vegas was giving its resort deluxe rooms a fresh new look, which they would be rolling out through 2011. Yet while we always love a good hotel renovation, we didn't see much difference in these new rooms versus the old ones.

In fact, most of the furniture was the exactly the same except that the rooms now sported tufted leather couches, plusher desk and table chairs, lighter walls, new carpeting and different drapes. But as it turns out, those little touches really matter a great deal.

We spent the night last night in a renovated room on the 23rd floor and the new "neutral and creamy" decor gives the room a much lighter and fresher feel, which is actually a bit unusual in Vegas, where so many hotel rooms use darker decor and furnishings (The better to hide the stains you see.)

We dare say we like these new renovated rooms more than we like our usual Vegas habitation, the Encore which has a mixture of black and gold decor. Check out the photos and video to see what we mean.

However, Encore still trumps the Wynn on in-room technology as we were sorely missing the nightstand with an outlet last night.

We paid $127 for our room last night plus a $20 resort fee which does include blazingly fast wireless internet as well as access to the fitness center.
