Quarterback Joe Montana Now Fancies Himself a Hotelier

Go long...down the hallway, past the ice machine!
If you're NFL great Joe Montana and you want to open up a luxury hotel, where are you gonna do it? Why in Santa Clara, Calif. right across the street from where your old team, the San Francisco 49ers, hope to build a brand-new 68,500-seat stadium. And indeed, that's what Joe Montana is hoping to do.
The San Jose Mercury News reports Montana and former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr. have petitioned the city of Santa Clara to give them an 18-month exclusive negotiating agreement for about seven acres across from the proposed stadium site that would include a luxury hotel, sports bar, upscale restaurant and entertainment venue.
There's no word on what type of hotel Montana hopes to build but the "luxury" bit tells us it will be rather high-end. i.e. we will not be sleeping on 49er sheets and pillows. Although, we do hope they make at least one suite into an NFL Suite of some sort. (Perhaps one about NFL Mustaches?) After all, why build a hotel here if you aren't going to hype of football?
Still, we'll have to wait a while to see what Montana puts forth. Plans are being finalized for the stadium and it probably won't be completed until 2015.
