We don't know about you but we're immensely relieved that this latest bit of news about a new hotel in NYC does not involve Hyatt Hotels at all. This week has been pretty much Hyatt overkill for us. Fortunately, this update is about the forthcoming Flatiron Hotel at Broadway and 26th Street.

While this joint has no opening date as of yet, according to MadParkNews it does have a finished entrance and a 20,000 gallon, two-story fish tank (aquarium?) ready to go (sans fishies.)

Yes, that's one ginormous fish tank. But we guess the hotel needs something to distinguish itself from others in this random area of Manhattan like The Ace Hotel.

The hotel does have a website now but it pretty much just has stock photos of fake happy people doing fake happy things in NYC. Even the room photo looks rather generic with the focus more on a glass of sparkling water and a laptop than the bed with a brown and coral color scheme in the background.

Still the hotel is promising that each of its 64 guest rooms will have the following:

[S]culptured crown molding, Venetian plaster walls, marble and granite accents, and oversized windows for panoramic views of the New York City skyline.

Our guestrooms also feature a deep, Jacuzzi bathtub or Swiss rainfall shower, 600-thread count linens, LCD TV, remote control mechanized drapes, surround-sound entertainment system, and wireless Internet access. Double, queen and king-size beds are available.

Sounds good to us but their website still has us concerned. We're hoping for a little more originality when the final product is in place. At least feature the fishies!
