You know we're always on the look-out for "what's next" when it comes to hotels...especially New York City hotels, and believe it or not we're thinking gussied-up coffee drinks. We've come to this conclusion based on some excellent beverages we've had in hotel lobbies around town, as we order up warmer drinks at the onset of fall. And then we spotted this pic of a very cutesy latte as tweeted by @sea_of_shoes, and that tipped the scales.
The latte with the little smiley face (or snowman face?) is served at the Soho Grand Hotel, a perennial hotspot and favorite of the fashion types (which is what @sea_of_shoes kind of qualifies as). We don't know exactly which of the hotel's baristas worked their foamy magic on it, but somebody give them a raise.
Here's yet another fancy foam—atop hot chocolate this time—that we drank down recently at the Stumptown coffee bar inside the Ace Hotel. It's more artistic than the Soho Grand's big smile, but at least this one is consistent; the Stumptown baristas serve up most drinks with such extra flare.
