W also told us that they do not use scent machines in hotels. The Living Rooms and other public spaces are scented solely by the candles. But up in the rooms, the spaces are scented with a custom scent that is not available for sale. This could be the scent our reader was after. So if it is, we're sorry--you're outta luck for now.
More smells coming from W can be found in the WCs and the lifts where reed sticks and infusers are used. W tell us those scents vary but "there are some common themes."
So now, the nose knows what W Hotels smells like...exactly. As for going about buying the Sicilian Fig scent, there are several candle options on the W Hotels website, including specific ones for W Hotels like W Istanbul and W South Beach. But these are not Sicilian Fig, nor is the W Hotels Candle that is listed on the site. We did however find a smaller version of Sicilian Fig listed as the W's Summer Candle from Vie Luxe for $12.50
Still your best option remains to track down the W Hotels Stores in person and buy a W Hotels Sicilian Fig candle there. Remember it costs $25 so don't go wasting another $40 on the wrong scent. Or you could do as Dacko recommended and "schmooze your W concierge to see if he/she can give you a complimentary candle."
