At Long Last, The Savoy London Will Open This Weekend

The day that we have been waiting for a 100 years has finally arrived--10.10.10. And the day that we have been waiting for what feels like a 100 years is also here--the reopening of The Savoy London.

London can barely contain itself as it awaits the reopening of the iconic hotel which closed in December 2007 and underwent a rigorous top-to-bottom renovation that cost a pretty penny--220 million pounds.

Room rates at the hotel during opening week will also cost you a pretty penny, as we reported last week. Anxious to be one of the first in the new Savoy? You can expect to pay about �485 a night. Or else wait until later this month when room rates drop to �345 a night.

But if you really want to splurge, you may as well book one of the hotel's nine Personality Suites which are named after famous guests like Marlene Dietrich, Charlie Chaplin, Katherine Hepburn, Winston Churchill, Maria Callas and Frank Sinatra. Those suites will cost you upwards of �2,000 a night, yet there's still a way to get a "suite" deal the Savoy.

The hotel is offering The Savoy Suite Introduction which gives guests who book an Edwardian one-bedroom suite a second night for just 1 GBP, the rate for a suite when The Savoy first opened in 1889. We found a suite rate for �1650 for two nights on October 12 which, with taxes, works out to be about �969 a night.

Considering that an Edwardian suite goes for �1250 a night, this is nice little deal...if you had �2,000 laying around of course.
