The cocktail geniuses are from bars in NYC, Boston and Los Angeles, with one--John Lermayer--coming from hotel experience at the Delano's Florida Room and Woodward at The Ames.
"This is the first time that a group of bartenders of this caliber has come together to create an original beverage program to compliment such an iconic hotel destination," said Howard Wein, of Morgans Hotel Group.
From the sounds of it, the cocktail menu at Forty Four will change from season to season, and there may even be room for more whiz-bang bartenders to join the Collective (the crew above were referred to as "the founding members").
Of course, many of the cocktails they've created are a nod to the past, with one Rye-based drink called "The Reconciliation." In addition to the classics, the Collective is introducing a custom boutique barrel program and a modern punch bowl menu.
And just to make you feel better about being a lush, all juices in the cocktails are organic, thanks to a partnership with NYC company Organic Avenue.
You can see a teaser of The Collective in action over at Morgans Hotels' You Tube channel. The full webisode introducing them will go live some time next week.
