Interiors were designed by Stephen B. Jacobs--and accordingly, they have a fresh, minimal look with pops of color similar to the Gansevoort Hotels, which were also done by this firm.

When it's completed, the hotel will have an outdoor pool deck connecting the two buildings, where you can order light bites from Ocean's 10. Inside will be a more upscale restaurant, Cafe Med.

The site was a hive of construction activity during our visit, but a stroll through the model room and what will become the suites tells us that these are some of the biggest rooms on the Beach.

Don't book in your New Year's Day visit just yet, though--the earliest we're seeing rooms available at Breakwater is now February 16, when rates start at $399 a night.
