There’s nothing like helping a good cause and getting some fun out of it while you’re at it, which is why we thoroughly approve of the new SleepSmart program that’s about to launch in London.
A spin off of the incredibly successful “donate £1 with your meal to help the homeless” StreetSmart campaign, SleepSmart is a little closer to home, in that they’re trying to raise money for the homeless from those able to afford to stay in a fancy hotel at London prices.
During November and December, if you stay at a participating hotel, your final bill will include a £1 donation to the StreetSmart program (it’s voluntary, so you can remove it if you like). Even better, they guarantee that every penny of that will go to the charity, since Deutsche Bank has promised to cover the admin costs.
They’re still adding hotels to the roster, but recruits so far include the friendly folk at MyHotels, the Stafford, the sexy Sanctum Soho and The Landmark.
And although it’s a London campaign, they’ve signed up a few outside the capital, too – MyHotel Brighton, the fancypants Lowry in Manchester and a few in Scotland.
