We've been eagerly anticipating the follow-up to the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills (to say the least) and we've got our heads turned towards Miami which is where hotelier Sam Nazarian is set to open SLS at South Beach in 2012, after renovating the old Ritz Plaza hotel.

Last we heard, the hotel will be more Hollywood than South Beach with 10 poolside bungalow suites, a Hyde lounge and a Katsuya restaurant. But one thing it won't have? A Starwood Hotels connection.

Currently, the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles is part of Starwood's Luxury Collection which allows guests to use and earn the coveted Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty points. But word on the street is that SLS Miami might be an independent hotel, run by Sam's SBE group which also runs a slew of top restaurants and clubs in LA. Even the folks on FlyerTalk.

We'd certainly be bummed to see the Starwood association go bye-bye and we think it's a bit strange that SLS LA employees will be Starwood-trained while SLS Miami employees will not. All in all, the two hotels might share the same name, but they will probably be very different hotels.

Got any secretive, lengthy, scoop on the SLS at South Beach? Let us know!
